ABOUT GRAND RAPIDS SWING DANCE INC

asdf

Summer 2023 Dances are every Tuesday 7-9:30 PM at Rosa Parks Circle in Grand Rapids.

The Grand Rapids Original Swing Society (GROSS) was established in 2004 with a mission to promote positive social and healthy lifestyle choices by teaching the art of swing and ballroom dance. This will fulfill our vision of activating neighborhood parks, schools, museums with regular dance classes and sessions for regional citizens of all ages. GROSS provides free community dances for individuals of any age and skill level to enjoy. The desired outcome that drives GROSS programming is an increase in positive social and healthy lifestyle choices. Dancing as a social activity enhances participants’ interpersonal skill development in joining an activity, sharing, and asking for permission. Regular GROSS attendees form relationships and build a community around their enjoyment of dance, develop a healthy lifestyle, and reap the benefits of having an active hobby.

Our programming consists of free, public dance sessions taught by professional dance instructors.

  • Over 50 free community dances are hosted in outdoor venues in the summer months around Grand Rapids, MI. These events draw an average of 500 people and have reached upward of 1,000. The summer series is well respected for consistently programming dances every Tuesday evening.

  • During the winter months, GROSS partners with the Grand Rapids Public Museum to host 25 nights of classes and events

  • GROSS instructors teach elective classes at area middle and high schools year-round.
